Poetry Outloud National Recitation Contest (Grades 9-12)
L-S Middle and High School students have the opportunity to work with a poet in residence on December 17, 2012.

Invent Iowa (Grades K-12)
This is a statewide program and contest that encourages students to think creatively and solve problems through the invention process. All entries must be submitted by February 6, 2013. State contest is held in May.

National History Day (Grades 4-12)
This is a contest open to all students in grades six through twelve. Fourth and fifth grade students may participate submit entries in a non-judged youth division.
